Subject:COSTCO - N TEN MILE & CHINDEN | RECKLESS DEVELOPMENT
Why are people flooding from California to Boise - great question!
Among other issues not needed in this discussion - Developers in CA have recklessly over developed
and condensed human beings into mini cities from Northern to Southern California. Land is not
abundant any longer and space is at a premium, as a result they cram as much as possible into the
smallest of acreage. People are coming to Boise by the thousands to escape this "can't breathe"
environment. Boise Idaho is a fantastic city - Eagle, Meridian, Star ... all great cities. Why would the
City of Meridian allow a greedy developer to ruin Meridian by sticking a mass housing, apartment
complex, Costco and retail location right in the middle of a residential neighborhood and the busiest
intersection on Chinden Blvd?!?! Brighton brings money to the table - I understand that - but don't be
fooled by their deceptiveness into thinking this will improve Meridian! Find a space off Chinden
slightly to the west that doesn't have residential neighborhoods surrounding the retail location. At
least if that area is ever developed the builders can work around the footprint of the Costco - rather
than having Costco dropped on top of us that have been here for years without the beast in the
middle of our backyards.
THIS IS RECKLESS DEVELOPMENT and will be an eye sore for Meridian. I URGE THE COUNCIL to
reconsider allowing this to move forward. Don't let our great city become another Idafornia and
destroy our great city. MOVE THE COSTCO TO A NONE INVASIVE AREA NOW!!!
Respectfully,
Chris Sommer
