Dear Mayor Tammy and Meridian City Council members,
We are writing to request that you deny Brighton’s application to change the
Comprehensive Plan in the Chinden/Ten Mile area.
We live in SpurWing Greens and reside in a Brighton home. We love our home
and community. However, the thought of a big box store, three story apartments,
and smaller retail stores across the street has caused us to worry about what our
lives will be like. Traffic, increased crime, environmental issues, and quality of
life are just a few of the areas that will negatively impact us. Had we known that
such a drastic change to the Comprehensive Plan was possible, we would never
have purchased a home in SpurWing Greens.
Brighton Corporation (Mr. Turnbull) has indeed been a positive influence in
Meridian. Now they are requesting, in return, your acceptance of their application
and change to the Comprehensive Plan. It is difficult for us not to be emotional
and passionate about this because we, the homeowners, will have to live with the
results every single day.
Brighton Corporation has created many beautiful communities, but even Brighton
cannot make the Costco project neighborhood-worthy. Not everything Brighton
does will turn to gold. Chinden and Ten Mile will become one huge parking lot. Is
this really what you want?
If this project is approved by you, our elected officials, it will be obvious your
heart is with the developer, and not the residents of your “premier”
neighborhoods. Personally, our trust in you, will be gone. How sad for Meridian;
how sad for us.
