Subject:Chinden Costco
To Whom It May Concern:
I am a resident of the Bainbridge Neighborhood. It feels like a small minority has taken to speaking for the
entire neighborhood. They have made it seem as if none of us in the neighborhood are in favor of the Costco
development at the corner of Ten Mile and Chinden. This couldn't be further from the truth. There are many
of us who would like to see this development happen. It would be a shorter drive to Costco. It would lead to
road widening that won't otherwise happen for a long time to come. It is land that is zoned commercial, and
as such, this type of development is going to happen, irregardless of what people think should be built at that
intersection. We are not concerned about an increase in crime, and don't quite understand how adding a
retirement community and Costco increase crime.
Thank you for your thoughtful consideration and leadership when it comes to growth in Meridian. Those
who oppose this Costco can choose to move if it is such a deal breaker for them. The fact that one of our
neighbors was soliciting homeowners in our neighborhood with an offer to sell our homes because our
property values are going to plummet is just insulting. If he is so opposed, let him be the one to move. I think
it will bring much needed businesses to our area and allow for shorter shopping trips and more shopping
alternatives.
Thank you for your time, and don't be swayed by a small voice claiming to speak for an entire
neighborhood. It simply isn't a true statement, as much as they would have you believe it is.
