Half of the people that spoke in favor of Costco lived as far away as 2 or 3 miles. Costco hardly affects them and their comments should be dismissed!!! I listened carefully to those who spoke. Those against the propo sal AND their arguments far outweighed the arguments for this project going forward. But in spite of it, the committee voted on the side of Costco and Brighton. Me along with others ask the question how much influence and sway does Brighton have with members of the Planning and Zoning committee and the City Council. For anyone to compare this project to other commercial properties such as an Albertsons, Walgreens, or a strip shopping center going in at that location is being more than disingenuous. This is a BULK shopping facility that draws businesses as well as individual shoppers from MILES away and created four times the traffic. It doesn’t draw just from the local community like other commercial properties do. Hope this email is forwarded to every City Council member and I hope they make a decision on what is best for the people that live in this area and not what’s politically best for Brighton!!!!!!! Brighton and Costco can afford the hit. Our community CANNOT!!!!!!!!!!!! D. And double shame on Brighton for putting the surrounding communities in the position to fiercely fight this proposal. The burden of the additional traffic to our already over crowded streets and Chinden particularly and the negative impact it will have on property owners in the immediate area far out weighs their desire to build here. Let them go somewhere else!!!! There is plenty of vacant land west, north or south of us where there is more open space and less congested traffic. We vote a big NO to this developme nt!!!!!
