Quaker Ridge Dr. City Meridian State Idaho Zip Code 83646 Subject Meridian Costco Message Hello, I wanted to express my concern with the building of a Costco on the corner of Ten Mile and Chinden. I live on the corner of Ten Mile and Cherry Lane. I work in Downtown Boise. Ten Mile is my only route to get to and from work. With the addition of a Costco on Ten Mile and Chinden the traffic will only get worse. I already battle rush hour traffic each way, but now to add traffic on top of the traffic that is there is going to cause major issues. We will now have ALL people from Meridian coming to this Costco, people from Eagle, people from Star, some people from Caldwell, and some people from Nampa all making the trip to the corner of Ten Mile and Chinden. The roads in this area of Meridian are not made for this kind of traffic. I already spend 40 minutes to an hour each morning trying to get to work and 40 minutes to an hour trying to get home from work. Adding this Costco will just make this worse. I know they want to widen the roads in that area, but again this area is not made for a Costco. Not only is i t a major traffic hazard, but this Costco will be surrounded by houses and a very nice golf course. I would not want to live in a house where Costco is in my backyard. It is not a pretty sight to see when I look out my windows or am out golfing. Why put a Costco in a place that should clearly be a residential area? We already are battling a housing shortage. The noise of this road is also a big concern. Ten Mile is already a busy road and is noisy during certain times of the day. Now add the traffic to and from Costco as well as Semi's now taking this road to make deliveries to the store. This will cause excessive noise day and night. My house backs right up to Cherry Lane. I do not want to constantly hear the noise from the roads. Costco has a large variety of plots of land to choose from. Why choose a plot of land that is going to be a major inconvenience and causing those of us living around it to have to alter our lifestyle. I am not in support of this decision and I urge you to decide not to allow Co stco to build here. There is plenty of land right near the freeway where a Costco would be more welcome. I am hoping there will be an open city council meeting on this matter. Please let me know if you have any questions for me on this matter.
