Subject Proposed Costco store at Ten Mile Rd. & Chinden Blvd
Message I am in favor of the developer's proposal to build at Ten Mile Rd. & Chinden
Blvd. The developer has planned for the increased traffic by strategically placing
several entrances along Ten Mile and Chinden. The company is willing to carry the
cost of widening both roadways which in itself, is a costly undertaking. Meridian is
the fastest growing city in the state and residents must be willing to adjust to the
growth. Well planned commercial developments are a necessary part of the city's
expansion. Residential growth has been expanding in the western and northwestern
areas of Meridian for several years. Residential developments have been growing at a
very rapid pace without supportive commercial/office development to support the
residents. Having busin esses expand in those directions will ease the traffic density in
our overcrowded central areas. Without commercial growth, residential expansion
would create more traffic congestion in our core areas because residents must shop in
our central core. I am definitely a supporter of Costco's efforts to provide services to
our rapidly growing west/northwest region of Meridian.
