Recently, we identified a site in a proposed mixed-use residential and commercial project at the southwest corner of Chinden Boulevard and Ten Mile Road that we feel is well -located to serve our members' long-term needs. For further context, a plan depicting the proposed development has been provided for your review. In addition to the improvements planned on the project site, Costco has proposed widening and improving Chinden Boulevard from Linder Road to Highway 16, and widening and improving Ten Mile Road from Chinden Boulevard to Milano Road. These much needed road improvements will not happen in a timely manner without the approval of the proposed project. The developers of the mixed use -project have submitted applications to the City of Meridian, requesting a Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Map amendment, and Annexation and Rezoning approvals. These applications will be considered by the Meridian Planning & Zoning Commission at their regularly scheduled meeting Thursday, March 1, at 6 p.m. Along with the developers, we have participated in two neighborhood outreach meetings to provide an overview of the project and to answer questions from those who live nearby. While this effort addressed many concerns of those in attendance, some have pledged to mount a vocal opposition to the project. Although we honor their right to do so, we feel that it is equally important that our members who would welcome a Costco in Meridian have a chance to make their voices heard. Given the circumstances, we are asking for your help by endorsing the requested applications that will allow Costco to develop at the proposed location. To make your voice heard, please consider attending the March 1 planning meeting and/or contacting the Meridian mayor and council members to make them aware of your support for Costco at the proposed site. The City has set up a location on their website to communicate these types of things. Please visit http://meridiancity.org/council/request.htm/` If you have specific questions for the City about the project or want to provide direct feedback, you can contact the planning department at 208-884-5533. Any comments or questions for Costco should be directed to Peter Kahn at Pkahn@costco.com. j —' b. 2 —4 7_0 ) R Thank you for being a Costco member and we look forward to hearing from you.
