Subject Proposed Costco on Ten Mile and Chinden
Message I have been anxiously awaiting the proposed Costco on Chinden and Ten Mile in
Meridian. Although I am not a Meridian resident, I would like to voice my support of
the proposed Costco. I currently drive to the Nampa Costco which is a long trip.
I understand the opponents "nimby" attitude, but also equate that to people that buy
homes near an airport and then complain that there is airplane traffic noise. If you are
willing to buy a home with acres and acres of undeveloped farmland surrounding you,
then you should be prepared for development in those acres. The big stores don't put
their businesses where there is no population, they go where the population will be.
As to the widening of Chinden road, that will happen regardless of whether there is a
Costco or not. It will just take a lot longer and the traffic will be more and more
congested.
