Here's what they had to say: Request for Mayor and Council Name Harold (Jay) Witt _replyto jaywitt1515@yahoo.com 2 Street Address 2437 W. Teano Dr. City Meridian State ID Zip Code 83646 Subject Meridian Costco Message Mayor, Council, and P&Z Commissioners, I am in support of the proposed Costco project and believe many in Meridian are also in support of the project. It would shorten our shopping trips, saving us money. It would also be a boost to the tax base. I also believe Costco provides the family-wage jobs Mayor Tammy has been trying to bring to the City. The location is more than appropriate for the use. What better place to put a Costco than at the intersection of a State Highway and a Principal Arterial... one with a connection to I-84. No matter how people wish they could stop growth and increases in traffic, there is no way to do so. And why would we want to see growth stop? Growth is an indication of a strong economy - Meridian's strong economy. The fact Costco wants to locate a store in Meridian should be a source of pride for our residents and our leadership. Costco's Traffic impacts can and will be mitigated. But traffic and congestion along US20/26 and Ten Mile is going to grow regardless of Costco's proposed development. Caldwell has big plans for the corridor that will increase traffic and North Nampa will continue to grow. I think instead of fighting the growth we should welcome it and work together to find ways to preserve our farmland, if that is what is desired. Until we as a valley have a tool to help preserve farm land, growth and development will be a part of life in a rapidly growing, urbanizing area. Thank you for considering my comments as you decide on this matter. Jay Witt This form was submitted at 04:53 PM UTC - 01 March 2018.
