Message It has been brought to my attention that you will be meeting soon regarding costco
adding a location at ten mile and Chinden. I believe this would be a wonderful
opportunity both for the consumers and future consumers of costco as well as for the
city of Meridian. Currently, I have to drive 30 min to the nearest costco and take my
3 young children with me. This is a huge feet to do, and having one closer (within 7
min) would be amazing. In addition, currently, the taxes I pay at costco benefit Boise
or Nampa. I would love for that revenue to benefit my town, Meridian. As for the
concerns that there are houses close by, I am not as concerned about those for a few
reasons. First these houses have not been built so those that choose to buy the houses
will understand how close to a costco they will be (which I would say is a
benefit). Second, it is only a few neighborhoods at this point that are not close to a
shopping center of some sort like Fred Meyer, Winco, Walmart, and the like. Thus,
this is just another shopping center near homes. It is one that will last and be around
for a long time without the possibility of becoming empty and an eye sore like some
of the others. Costco will be around and support the community for a long time. I
think it is a perfect location, and I would even consider living in the neighborhoods
nearby just to be closer to it. Please grant Costco the necessary actions to be able to
break ground and build at this ten mile and Chinden location, as I see it as a valuable
asset to the city of Meridian.
