Dear Meridian Council Member,
We are writing to express our strong opposition to the proposed COSTCO
Warehouse off Ten Mile Road. After attending the two community meetings
regarding said project, we remain baffled that a warehouse is being considered
for this residential location.
We encourage you to have a realistic vision of a full scale warehouse operation
--- "semi" deliveries, forklifts, constant back-up alarms --- in a neighborhood
setting. Contrary to the assertions of COSTCO, changes to the existing
infrastructure will not effectively handle the extreme increase in traffic on Ten
Mile Road and Chinden. We should know --- we live here. As others have
pointed out, there are certainly alternative locations in Meridian for COSTCO's
facility. Finally, we would emphasize that COSTCO self-identifies as a
Wholesale Warehouse --- hardly fit for (and certain to forever disrupt) our
quiet family neighborhoods.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Jack and Merridee Tipton
