Michael Arnold 02-281 Christopher Johnson From:Michael Arnold <stv1668@hotmail.com> Sent:Wednesday, February 28, 2018 2:43 PM To:City Clerk Subject:Lost Rapids H-2018-0004 Once again I find myself writing to express my opposition to the Lost Rapids Subdivision application H-2018-0004. The request for a change from Mixed use Community to Mixed use Regional is, in my opini on, inappropriate for this location. The Planning & Development Department and City Council have made a huge commitment in the development of our Comprehensive Plan and that plan undergoes periodic regular revisions to ensure it reflects the “best” vision for our community. I feel it is inappropriate for the Development Community to constantly take the reigns and drive through arbitrary changes to this plan to maximize their bottom line with complete disregard for the long term benefit of the community. The Comprehensive Plan makes sufficient allowance for Mixed Use Regional development in North west Meridian less than one mile further down the road. The Council should insist that development comply with the Comprehensive Plan. Likewise I am dismayed that the Planning Department seems to be driven to use their position to “give” the City Council what they "want to hear" instead of providing knowledgeable objective feedback so that the Council can make the best informed decision. Please understand, I am not against development, nor am I “anti” Costco, but I am strongly for growth consistent with that provided for in our Comprehensive Plan.
