Here's what they had to say: 2 Request for Mayor and Council Name Jerry & Jeanne Bedenbender _replyto ajbeden@hotmail.com Street Address 2561 N. Silverleaf Way City Meridian State ID Zip Code 83646 Subject Support for Proposed Costco at Chinden and Ten Mile Message Re: Support for the proposed Costco at Chinden and Ten Mile Please consider the following points • The blueprint for Meridians growth has already been established. Residential developments have been and continue to be approved and built bringing a need for increasing support of infrastructure and services. • Ten Mile from the interstate exchange most of the way to Chinden has already been increased to 4 lanes which equates to it already being identified as a main artery for the city. Chinden is already a major artery connecting west to the interstate and Caldwell and feeder from Star and the north part of Nampa into Meridian and the Hwy 55 corridor, and as such with or without the new developments that have and are occurring on Chinden, must be enlarged to 4 to 5 lanes along its entire length. Therefore, let’s have Costco, and other developers pay for at least part of that infrastructure. • As a retail employer, the area will be hard pressed to find a company whose pay and benefits, and working conditions equal those of Costco. • Personally, Costco is one of my ‘Go To Stores’ and since I live on Black Cat between Cherry Lane and Ustick, it would greatly benefit me as I would be driving significantly less distance and off the congested high speed interstate. I understand those living near Ten Mile and Chinden not wanting change – but there will be change. Do we want more storage facilities that ….are not the best looking and can house everything from drug s to explosive and hire 5 people, or a thriving well cared for business that is a good neighbor and supports significant well above average employment. If I could have my wish, I’d go back 20 years when most of the land around Meridian was beautiful, very productive farm land and the view out my back door was a red barn. But as long have we have more people, it requires more housing and more support services. Let’s choose the best that is available. Thanks for your consideration Jerry and Jeanne Bedenbender Meridian, Idaho This form was submitted at 04:57 PM UTC - 28 February 2018.
