Here's what they had to say: 2 Request for Mayor and Council Name Charles and Roberta Hay _replyto candbhay@gmail.com Street Address 5925 N. Serenity Lane City Meridian State Idaho Zip Code 83646 Subject Costco's proposed new location Message The wife and I are one hundred percent in favor of Costco's proposed plan to build near Ten Mile and Chinden. We live in the small subdivision to the west of the proposed project and will certainly be affected if it is approved. We are in favor for several reasons. 1. Chinden definitely needs upgrading whether or not the project is approved, and traffic will only get worse, even without Costco. The new subdivisions that are now occupied and that will be occupied soon have created a very long bottleneck every work morning and evening from Eagle Road all the way to the new intersection with Highway 16. We realize the project envisions improving Chinden only part of this distance, but it will shorten the bottleneck and start the very necessary improvements. 2. Costco will nicely complement Walmart and Fred Meyer stores already in existence near their site and allow competitive and quality shopping for northwest Meridian--one of the fastest growing areas in the state and nation. 3. Their site is ideally situated to break up the huge mass of residential growth on all sides of their site and provide a balance of business and residential that will be attractive and appealing. Finally, we want to say just a few words about the inevitable opposition that seems to arise whenever projects like this are proposed. Growth is not the same as progress, because growth can be positive or negative. But growth is necessary for individuals, communities and nations if they wish to avoid stagnation and regression. We are all sometimes afraid of growth because it challenges us and pushes us out of where we get comfortable and even lazy. And sometimes we oppose growth because of pure selfishness: "Now that I have my pretty home and yard, I don't want any more changes or intrusions on what I have." (Not that we would say that aloud, but it is what we feel sometimes.) But for the reasons we have set forth above, Costco's proposal is the kind of thoughtful, community friendly growth that we need, even if it makes some people a bit uncomfortable. Please approve the project! This form was submitted at 05:43 PM UTC - 28 February 2018. You are receiving this because you confirmed this email address on Formspree.
