Sarah Uberuaga 02-281 Christopher Johnson From:Morgan Andrus Sent:Wednesday, February 28, 2018 2:10 PM To:C.Jay Coles; Charlene Way; Christopher Johnson Subject:FW: costco From: MICHAEL SARAH [ mailto:msuberuaga@msn.com ] Sent: Wednesday, February 28, 2018 11:42 AM To: mayortammy; City Clerk Subject: costco To Mayor and Council: Because I am a member of Costco, I just received a letter from them asking for my support for the Costco planned on Ten Mile and Chinden in Meridian. I want to put it on the record that my husband and I are completely opposed to this location. People purchased their homes with an in-place master plan. Now they are expected to be receptive to a new plan and zoning changes that would allow a business as large as Costco to be put right in the middle of a new residential area. Ridiculous. Costco should be by the Interstate or in an industrial area where there are no homes that would be adversely affected. Promises of improving Chinden hold no sway for us. Unlike a regular grocery store such as Fred Mayer, people do not go to Costco everyday to pick up a few things. It is considered a major shopping excursion and for the most part, I believe residents will drive to wherever the Costco is located, and that does not include one being placed in a residential area. The increase in traffic would be unacceptable to those of us living in the surrounding area. Please do not allow this area of Chinden to become another Overland or State Street. That is not why we live here. Please turn down this proposal. If Costco wants to be more available to residents of Eagle and Star, then let them build there.
