Subject Costco project for the northwest Meridian area
Message To the Meridian Planning & Zoning Commission,
In reference to the proposed project by Costco there have been several meetings and
much discussion on this topic. The area in question is by present zoning, from my
understanding, for a multi use residential and commercial area. If I understand this
correctly, then developers can use the area for homes as well as business. The outcry
from some is that they do not want this to go forward. I think that the benefit of
Costco's presence outweighs the cries of a few. Those that bought homes in that area,
should have been aware that with this type of zoning, they could end up having a
business as well as a residential mixture in that area, and thus chose an area that was
all residential zoning. To use the Star Trek phrase, "The needs of the many, outweighs
the needs of the few."
