Subject Costco on Chinden
Message I'm a Costco member and have been for many years. I shop at both Nampa and Boise
stores.. My guess is most of Meridian and surrounding areas shop there as well. With
that said, I'm writing to let you know that I am opposed to having one across the street
from me. Here's why:
1. TRAFFIC. The residents along the entire Chinden and Ten mile corridors are
already traffic jammed and we need, in my opinion, 2 lanes in each direction to
relieve the congestion today. We don't need 6 lanes and more traffic lights for 1.5
miles down Chinden and 1 mile down Ten mile. I believe it will not only bottleneck
the traffic at those end points today, but be sadly wanting to support the estimated
11,000 more vehicles per day. Costco thinks adding a couple of miles is a go od carrot
to wave at the council. Well I ghink it's a bad carrot. It's Meridian, ADA County and
the residents responsibility to make improvements that will work for us. I urge you
and the council to guide us for OUR benefit.
