Message This is a comment for the March 1 planning meeting concerning the planned Costco
at Chinden and Ten Mile. My husband and I live in the Bridge Tower West
subdivision that boarders Ten Mile Road. We agree with building a Costco at
Chinden & Ten Mile. We disagree that the only road improvements would occur on
Chinden and Ten Mile north of McMillian Road. While widening and improving
Chinden is needed, widening and improving Ten Mile from Chinden to Ustick is also
needed. Traffic currently is bottle-necked between Ustick and Chinden because of the
2 lane sections of Ten Mile. A Costco on Chinden and Ten Mile would increase
traffic from Chinden on Ten Mile because of freeway access to the south. While the
plan does call for widening and improving Ten Mile, it only calls for making those
changes up to Milano Road, which does not alleviate the congestion from McMillian
to Ustick on Ten Mile. Yes, progress and expansion is great in this valley, but please
make the necessary planning to put infrastructure ahead of building by expanding the
access to that building. Expanding Ten Mile road to 4 lanes from Chinden to the
freeway the entire length will allow growth in Meridian without the needed
congestion that comes from inadequate infrastructure. Thank you for considering
