Sam Koontz 02-24February 24, 2018 Honorable Mayor and City Council of Meridian Planning and Zoning Commission of Meridian 33 East Broadway Avenue, Suite 300 Meridian, ID 83642 RE: Application #H-2018-0004 GFI-Meridian Investments II, LLC & Brighton Investments Subject: Growth and the City of Meridian Comprehensive Plan proposed zoning changes at Ten Mile and Chinden (Hwy 20/26) My wife and I bought a home in Spur Wing Green in 2015 and actually became a client of Brighton's Development in doing so, as did all of the residential property owners in both our development and Brighton's development Bainbridge that is specifically targeted for this change in purpose. As clients of Brighton, we are being compromised by them, by their profiteering from the residentially adjacent property that was designated for a much lower commercial use rather than the Regional use they are seeking at this time. Your representation of us as Citizens of Meridian, and your defense of Brighton's responsibilities to us, both as citizens and as clients of Brighton is the bottom line of what this Annexation and Rezoning that is being sought by Brighton is all about. Brighton and Mike Wardle's profiteering is at our expense and compromises the declared intent of the property at the time of our purchases, that you had approved -the representatives of the citizens of Meridian, and by Brighton's promoted position of contingent properties affecting our neighborhoods and street congestion. We are asking that the appropriate bottom line, be made the primary consideration in this application of Annexation and Rezoning. The profit Brighton and Costco are pursuing is at our expense. It is not that there are not far better areas of application for the benefit of a Regional retail center to be located in Meridian, even in Northern Meridian. It is the highest maximization of Brighton's property ownership and profitability that is up for approval, yet at the expense of Meridians citizens. We are asking that you stand up for us, and with regard, deny the Annexation and Rezoning of the property at the S/W/C of Chinden and Ten Mile Road for the benefit of the Citizenry of Meridian and the value of life lived in Meridian.
