Diane and Ralph Grahek 02-271 Christopher Johnson From:Diane Grahek <diane.grahek@yahoo.com> Sent:Tuesday, February 27, 2018 2:43 PM To:City Clerk Subject:Cosco Hearing March 1, 2018 Dear Planning and Zoning for the City of Meridian: We have lived in Meridian for five years, and purchased our home near the proposed location for the new Costco at Ten Mile and Chinden. We were aware of the current zoning requirement on the Master Plan for light commercial. WE ARE OPPOSED TO THE CHANGE IN ZONING TO ACCOMMODATE A HUGE COMMERCIAL BUILDING. The increased traffic and truck noise starting as early as 4 AM is unacceptable for a residential neighborhood. Thank you, Diane and Ralph Grahek 3874 W Fire Storm Ct Meridian ID 83646 February 21, 2018 Honorable Mayor and City Council of Meridian (Mayor Tammy de Weerd, Genesis Milam, Joe Borton, Treg Bernt, Luke Cavener, Ty Palmer) Planning and Zoning Commission of Meridian (Rhonda McCarvel, Ryan Fitzgerald, Steven Yearsley, Gregory Wilson, Lisa Holland, William Cassinelli, Jessica Perreault) 33 East Broadway Avenue, Suite 300 Meridian, ID 83642 RE: Application #H-2018-0004 GFI-Meridian Investments II, LLC & Brighton Investments The City of Meridian Comprehensive Plan proposed zoning changes at Ten .Mile and Chinden (Hwy 20/26) Honorable Mayor and council and committee members: We have been living in Meridian for the past five years. We built a home in Spurwing Greens, and noted the adjacent zoning, desiring a residential neighborhood environment. For the second time, we as an HOA are faced with fighting against changes to the Meridian Comprehensive Plan. We do not support any changes to the Comprehensive Growth Plan regarding the rezoning of the parcel at the corner of Chinden/HWY 20 and Ten Mile to allow large scale commercial or industrial usage. (i.e. Costco). The additional traffic, the noise, and trucks loading and unloading as early as 4 am is NOT acceptable and not appropriate for a residential neighborhood. It is time for the City of Meridian to develop a plan that makes growth fund improvements to roads, build schools (not just donate parcels of land for the schools), and fund other city services. Other parts of the country do this, and it does not stifle growth. We would be willing to pay extra to avoid sitting in traffic, experience less crowding in schools, and fund more infrastructure.
