Subject Costco
Message I am writing to communicate my support for the proposed Costco location in
Meridian at Chinden and Ten Mile. Both the City of Meridian and the Treasure
Valley are growing. I believe it is irresponsible to continue approving new housing
developments without consideration of the infrastructure necessary to support that
growing population. Traffic and retail congestion are both significant issues in the
valley. As I understand it, the Costco proposal to add a warehouse also includes a plan
for widening roads in the surrounding areas, a task which would take ACHD decades
to complete given their track record. Businesses like Costco go through an extremely
thorough process to determine where to build new locations. They have determined
there is a demand in our City and the overflowing parking lots and excessive lines at
both the Boise and Nampa locations would suggest their assessment is accurate. A
Costco in Meridian would only benefit the community. Their support to improve
surrounding roadways is a huge bonus for the City. Thank you for your time and
please consider approval of the Costco proposal.
