Subject Costco Proposed Site -- Southwest Corner of Chinden Boulevard & Ten Mile Road
Message We are strongly opposed to the proposed Costco site at the southwest corner of
Chinden Boulevard & Ten Mile Road. The increased traffic from the trucks
delivering to Costco in the early morning hours will make it nearly impossible to
access either Chinden Boulevard or Ten Mile Road. In addition, the noise that will be
created as a result of these early morning deliveries is unacceptable. The increased
traffic from individuals entering and exiting Costco throughout the day will make the
new Keith Bird Park in the Bainbridge Subdivision unsafe & unusable. Parents will
not allow their children to go to the park due to the unsafe conditions of the increased
traffic flow. Widening & improving only a small section of both Chinden Boulevard
& Ten Mile Road will accomplish nothing but an increased safety concern. Drivers
will speed up to pass other vehicles, similar to what happens at Chinden Boulevard &
Linder Road. The number of accidents that have occurred at this intersection is proof
of this; all you need to do is look at the data. Lastly, in addition to all the above,
having a Costco at this location will decrease the property value of all the homes in
the area.
