Message I cannot attend the meeting. But I DO want my voice heard as a property tax paying
homeowner in Meridian, ID (despite not having any children in school since 2009).
The very fact that we are debating this is ludicrous. I have been traveling to Nampa
and in many cases Boise to shop at Costco. Having a Costco here would do many
things including but not limited to and in no particular order as they are all important.
1. Spending less in fuel.
2. Spending MORE time shopping in my own city. Not Nampa or Boise. Do you
know how close the BTS Mall is to Boise?
3. Ensuring a quality, long term business partner is building in our area without the
fear of a closing like Sam's Club.
4. Providing quality employment and benefits for Meridian adults at GREAT wages.
5. Providing Meridian employment in Meridian cuts commuting time resulting in less
accidents for Meridians, cuts pollution as they do not have to commute East to work
and keeps parents close to home.
6. Meridian has grown. Look around. The barn door has been open a long time. Now
is not the time to to close our borders to upscale businesses like Costco. Now is the
time to leverage companies that want their workforce here to help us build additional
classroom space.
