Here's what they had to say: 2 Request for Mayor and Council Name Larry Bowen and Gale Cates _replyto imagewest5@gmail.com Street Address 49 E. State Ave City Meridian State Idaho Zip Code 83642 Subject Costco to develop at Chinden and Ten Mile Message I understand the feelings of the local neighbors in that area. I have lived in old town for about 32 years. I have seen Meridian develop and grow. It is something that can not be stopped. No matter if Costco builds there or not, someone else will. I would rather have Costco develop that area then anybody else. I have confidence in Costco to do it Right... Chinden needs to widen any way and if Costco gets approved maybe it will happen before the city gets around to it. That in it self will make my Commute safer and better. As a long time resident of Meridian and local Businessman, I Support the proposed site and ask the city to approve the plan. They will be included in the record and I hope you are able to make it out to the future public hearing at city council whenever that may be. Just wanted to touch on something you mentioned about maybe Chinden would be widened after Costco gets approved before the city gets around to it. Just wanted to clarify that the city has no jurisdiction over roads. We don’t pay for them, maintain them, build them, anything. Chinden (US 20/26) is owned by Idaho Transportation Department and my understanding is they are working on a plan to provide for the widening of Chinden in conjunction with the project. I’m sure we’ll learn more details as the projects makes it’s way through the city process. While I’m on that topic, I’m trying to engage as many people as I can on an idea I’m working on. In the past, the city partnered with the road agencies such as ACHD and ITD to chip in some funding to move a project along, that is why we have the locust grove overpass today. I’m curious what the public thinks. Would you as a citizen be ok with the city using your property tax dollars that are assumed to be going to city owned infrastructure, staff, etc to go to road expansion projects instead? I’d like to see us use a small portion of the funds we receive to move important road projects up the timeline. What are your thoughts? Thank you!
