Subject:Proposed commercial development on Chinden @ 10 Mile Rd
The commissioners and city council members are well aware by now of the substantial opposition of north
Meridian residents to any commercial development that threatens to fundamentally and permanently alter the
character of the city we chose to call home. We won't bother to rehash all the arguments here, but we would like
simply to join the chorus of those who are resistant to the unbridled, growth-at-any-cost factions who would
build anything, anywhere, regardless of its impact on the local citizens.
We are Costco members and would love to have one closer, but it does not belong in, or adjacent to, a
residential neighborhood. Sorry, it just doesn't. Send them a bit farther down the road where there are miles of
undeveloped land. It may not be Costco's best-case location, but they exist to serve us, not the other way
around.
The city plan and FLUM are there for a reason. Please respect that, and those of us who moved into town with
what we believed were sensible and realistic expectations.
Sincerely,
Doug Humphrey
