Subject:,Growth and the City of Meridian Comprehensive Plan proposed zoning changes at Ten
Mile and Chinden (Hwy 20/26)
We are contacting you in order to let you know that as residents of SpurWing Greens we
are strongly opposed to any changes to the Comprehensive Growth Plan regarding the
rezoning of the parcel at the corner of Chinde~Y 20 and Ten Mile to allow large scale
commercial or industrial usage.
In 2015, ACRD performed a study which determined that the Tree Farm/Chinden intersection
was at or exceeded traffic loads but yet the city still approved two additional developments
adding to the congestion. Changing the comprehensive plan to accommodate commercial or
industrial usage will not only add to the existing traffic congestion but also devalue the
surrounding residential neighborhoods. Simply put: It is not consistent with the comprehensive
plan and it does not fit. Further, people make home purchases based on comprehensive plans and
maintaining continued belief and trust is paramount in our community and city.
The proposed change to allow a large scale commercial or industrial complex does not
belong in a residential area. We are urging the city and ACRD to consider the increase in
traffic congestion as well as the lack of infrastructure, city services, school overcrowding
and dangerous conditions that already exist in this area that will worsen if proposed
changes to the original Comprehensive Growth Plan are implemented.
