My name is Thomas Baker. I am a young person who has recently graduated from
Rocky Mountain High School and is currently enrolled at Boise State University. I
write to you today to give positive accolades and congratulations on Costco choosing
to build in a soon-to-be annexed part of your city. I know the decision would be
relatively easy to approve the permit request but the local residents are making it
difficult and raising concerns. Due to the fact that majority of the communications
you receive from citizens are likely negative, I decided it would be beneficial to go
against the grain a bit and say something positive. Please know that many Meridian
residents are behind the decision to approve the permit and are excited for the
improvements that will inevitably come to the area. I know the opposition may be
steep from many angles but I will reiterate that many more residents in both Eagle and
Meridian have gotten their hopes up since rumors began circulating about a
prospective Costco in our area years ago. I again congratulate you for fostering
Meridian from a small backwater in the middle of the treasure valley to a highly
valuable and nationally recognized community that is getting courted by major
companies such as Costco. Thank you and all the best for the future.
