Your email has been received by the Mayor’s Office. We appreciate you contacting us to let us know your
concerns for the proposed development in your area. We have not received an application from Costco yet,
though the City does expect to receive one soon. With an expected pending application they do not feel it is
appropriate for the Mayor or City Council to respond at this time as they are only able to make comments
during the public hearing. Once an application is made your comments will be forwarded to our Clerk’s Office
to be included in the public hearing packet the Mayor and Council Members receive for the public hearing. I
have also copied Bill Parsons, our planning supervisor, to help answer any questions you may have regarding
the proposed development.

Subject Costco at Ten Mile & Chinden
Message To Whom It May Concern,
I am a homeowner in the Bridge Tower subdivision. I love my home, neighborhood,
and city. With the Wal Mart that went in at the corner of McMillan & Ten Mile, it has
been almost impossible to make a left out of my subdivision, from Belltower Dr. onto
Ten Mile. The traffic on Ten Mile is horrible and not to mention all of the Delivery
"Big Rig" Trucks that are going to Wal Mart, their noise echoes throughout our once
quiet neighborhood. If this Costco project goes through it will make Ten Mile
horrendous; more traffic, more delivery trucks and more accidents. Ten Mile and
Chinden can not handle the amount of traffic as it is and with both Costco and Wal
Mart these stores will be bringing in more traffic which our roadways can not handle.
I understand the "need" to have a Costco here in Meridian but there are better
locations for this big box store then in the middle of a Residential area. Please keep in
mind that we have spent a lot of money on our homes to be in this area and now with
this Costco going in our housing prices will drop and we will be experiencing more
traffic throughout all of our neighborhoods. Did you know they will be starting their
deliveries as early as 4:00 am? How would you like to be sleeping in your 400k+
home only to be woken up every morning with Delivery Trucks coming in and out?
That is what our neighbors and your residents at Bainbridge will be experiencing on a
daily basis.
I am pleading with you, please do not rezone that land. Instead, help Costco find a
better area closer to the Freeway that can handle the amount of traffic that the store
and rest of the commercial development will be bringing in.
Thank you for your time and I know you will make the right decision for your
Meridian residents.
