Kathi Yudin 2-151 Charlene Way From:C.Jay Coles Sent:Thursday, February 15, 2018 10:42 AM To:Christopher Johnson; Charlene Way Subject:FW: project H-2018-004 lost rapids/costco -----Original Message----- From: kathi yudin [ mailto:nurseangel368@yahoo.com ] Sent: Thursday, February 15, 2018 10:35 AM To: C.Jay Coles < cjcoles@meridiancity.org > Subject: project H-2018-004 lost rapids/costco dear mr coles… i live in the bainbridge developement and am against the costco in this location… it is residential with young children who go to school and play outside afterwards… the increase in traffic in the area puts these children in jeopardy… cars don’t abide by speed limits and are always in a hurry either to meet a freind, get home to make dinner or pick their children up from school.. while this could be financially advantageous to the city and of course costco.. the lives of those that live in this area are in danger… additionally since costo has verbalized that th ey will partake of the star program where they get reimbursed for the cost of widening roads to accomadate the increase in traffic that costco will surely bring… where is this money to come from… financially my understanding is that the city is in the red… i could be wrong here but it was verbalized at a meeting i attended… thus leaving the citizens living in meridian to foot the bill with an increase in taxes… as surely as i am sitting writing this.. people will use the black cat entrance into vanderbilt to avoid some of the traffic… this increases the traffic in the development and again puts the lives of those who live there in jeopardy.. kids play here.. people walk their dogs here.. additionally the amount of traffic will significantly increase.. guesstimated to be approx 17,000/day.. it already can take up to 5 minutes just to make a right turn onto chinden from blackcat!!!… lights don’t necessarily change this as we can make a right on red but because of the traffic and the new housing and businesses that are going to be built at this corner.. it will take even longer. the saying goes if you build it they will come.. and so they will.. increasing the roads to 4 lanes will just increase the traffic in the area and only add more and more congestion… i believe it is important to think of the lives of those living in this area and suggest costco find a different location … one that is less in a residential area… thank you for listening and hopefully the city will see that lives are more important then anything else… kathi yudin
