Hello Kathleen,
We have received a few emails about the proposed development you are referring to. My office has talked with our
Planning Supervisor, Bill Parsons, and he has indicated that there has not been an application submitted for that
property at this time but they have had a pre-application discussion about rezoning the property.
I’ve copied Mr. Parsons on this email so you can have his contact information. He can help answer any questions or
address any concerns you might have about this possible development. We appreciate all public comments and would
like to thank you for taking time to email us. Your comments will be included in the public record if, or when, an
application is received.
Please let my office know if we can do anything else for you.
Thank you,
Mayor Tammy

Subject Concerns regarding proposed "Cherry Blossom Place" subdivision
Message Mayor Tammy and Meridian City Council:
We have recently been informed of a proposed subdivision backing the quaint
downtown Meridian neighborhood between Washington Street, Cherry Lane and 7th
Street. I am certain all those affected by this proposed subdivision have the
understanding that the open field that has currently occupied this space would one
day be developed. However, upon examining the proposal, the concerns have
3
become very great not just for myself and my elderly mother who lives on
Washington Street but for all the citizens of this neighborhood. First, the traffic
increase from the number of homes proposed to be built on this land will be
significant and very negative. The foot traffic on 7th and Washington is great every
day. The walk way from Meridian Middle School is at the very point of the
proposed entrance to the subdivision. Every morning and afternoon I witness many
young teens walking in this area. This issue is extremely concerning. In addition, the
number of cars entering and exiting from Cherry Lane will negatively change this
special part of our community. As you review this proposed subdivision, we ask that
you will consider the lifestyle enjoyed here and uniqueness of this area. The number
of homes proposed and the close proximity to the backyards of the existing homes is
simply not acceptable. Please take in to consideration the negative change this
proposed plan would cause the existing homeowners and the community as a whole.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Hezeltine
Dorothy Hoffman
