Please include the attached in testimony for the public record pertaining to Linder Village and include the
Meridian Southern Rim Coalition as "opposed" to the development application under consideration at tonight's
City Council meeting.
Thank you,

To: Meridian City Council
From: Meridian Southern Rim Coalition
Subject: Linder Village application
Date: January 16, 2018
Over the past months, the Meridian Southern Rim Coalition has monitored
the Linder Village application. Like so many concerned Meridian
neighborhoods, residents of North Meridian have attended neighborhood
meetings, waited patiently through continuances, and diligently prepared
for, and participated in, lengthy Planning & Zoning and City Council
meetings.
Linder Village’s outcome will set a citywide precedent for commercial
development across our city and adjacent to Meridian’s desirable and
“Livable” neighborhoods. Therefore, the Meridian Southern Rim Coalition
stands with our North Meridian neighbors.
We urge City Council to take your time and get this right. REMAND this
annexation application to Planning & Zoning. Set a high bar for annexation
and commercial development in our “Livable City.”
Why should Council remand this application?
1. The latest iteration of this application was submitted for neighborhood
consideration ONE WEEK AGO. That does not represent a
respectful, fair or thoughtful attitude toward the neighborhoods’
interests or concerns, nor does it provide a modicum of appropriate
time for the neighborhoods’ evaluation or response;
2. Given its latest revisions, the present iteration is a virtually NEW
application and should be treated as such;
3. The application still addresses too few of the neighborhoods’ valid
concerns as cited in opposing testimony and hundreds of signed
petitions on the public record.
Like our friends in North Meridian, we welcome new businesses that bring
much-needed services and amenities to our developing areas. But we urge
Council to demand smart growth over fast growth. We live in Meridian
neighborhoods—we are invested in Meridian.
We respectfully ask that Council provide your constituents the respect of
thoughtful, thorough and patient review of applications that will forever alter
our hometown’s landscape. REMAND this application and demand a
development that addresses Preserve Meridian’s valid concerns related to
traffic, noise, transition and connectivity. Let’s ensure that ALL
development reflects Meridian’s aim to be a “Livable City.”
