Subject:Send Linder Village back to P&Z - Linda S Arnold
Dear Meridian City Council,
Over the last four months, our community has worked tirelessly to follow the Linder
Village application. We have attended two neighborhood meetings, waited through
two continuances, and prepared for and participated in a 3+ hour P&Z hearing.
We have also tried to provide input and feedback to the developer regarding Linder
Village. However, it was not until the P&Z hearing recommended denial of the
application that any meaningful dialogue started to take place and changes to the
plan were made. We are encouraged that the developer is finally open to making
changes and listening to suggestions. This is the kind of cooperation we have been
looking for all along. However, we need sufficient time to consider the changes.
Many residents could not see the new plan until Nov 16th, and even then we were
told more changes were being made.
Given the amount of substantial changes to the plan and the level of interest from
the community, we respectfully request that you remand the application back to the
P&Z Commission, after providing your input and direction to the developer. The P&Z
Commission is the forum where an application should start to be vetted and work
out any issues. Since this is almost a new site plan, it should begin there again.
Ideally, we would like the developer to hold another neighborhood meeting with the
new plans after the city council meeting.
We welcome the new businesses that will bring much needed services and
amenities to this area of Meridian and we would like to see it developed sooner
rather than later. But, we advocate for smart growth, working in partnership with
developers and city guidelines to make Meridian great.
