My wife and I have been working for 15 years to get to this point and were thrilled to see everything fall into place. Imagine our heartache when we learned that a developer was now planning to upset everything that brought us to Meridian and this specific location by bulldozing the city plan and the intended use of property less than 1000 feet from our front door. The developer of this land has made no effort to work with the neighbors and has flat out refused to concede on every issue raised against the development they hope to drive through the process with force and dollars. The developer has ignored the community's pleas for changes that would maintain the buildings and even the current planned building's residents with only changes to make the Linder Village more of what the name implies, a village. This development, as planned, mocks the city's plan and the expectation homeowners, like myself had when moving here. The Planning and Zoning Commission held several issues with the current plan and when attempting to make suggestions that would bring the plan into alignment with the city, the developer refused any accommodations whatsoever. This is what led to the Commission to send the proposal to you with the recommendation of Denial. I ask that each of you take into consideration that Meridian's growth is of greatest concer n to the citizens whom live within its borders. We, the people, are what strive each and every day to make this location our home, our neighborhood, our community. We want growth, we want amenities, we want progress. We know it is necessary. It does not, however, mean by any means necessary. This development could be a crown jewel of Northern Meridian. A shining gateway to all of Meridian's visitors. The current plan is not that. It is a forced, lackluster, and boring space with little effort given to addressing the needs and desires of the community it pretends to cater to. Please, reject this current plan for the Linder Village development. Ask that the developer work within the bounds set forth by the city plan. Ask that they work with community. Let's not grow for the sake of growth, but to make Meridian the wonderful place we know it can be now and in the future. Thank You.
