Lori Badigian - 9.6Chairman and Commissioners:
On Friday September 1, 2017 I was informed that the developers for the Linder Village project once
again requested a continuance from the September 7 hearing to October. This is the second
continuance requested for this project. While I understand this the developers right to request the
continuance I would like to formerly object to granting it.
There are a number of us who have put a significant amount of time and effort into informing the
residents in the community surrounding the proposed Linder Village development of the proposal and
coordinating attendance at the September 7 hearing. These people are residents of City of Meridian
who are interested in the development of their city but also have lives to live. This includes being able
to make arrangements to attend the hearing and presents a significant burden to have to cancel those
arrangements and reschedule for the following month. Especially with such minimal notice, of 6 days
the Friday before a Holiday weekend.
If this continuance is granted I ask that you clearly state on record that no additional continuances will
be considered. In addition I would like to ask that you confirm that the applicant stated timeframe to
have the revisions submitted by September 15 is adequate in order to be scheduled for the October 19
hearing.
The applicant has had a significant amount of time to make changes to their plan and has refused to do
so until the last minute. It has been known for months that one of the “large box stores” (Costco) was
no longer considering this location yet the developers chose to wait until the last minute to make
revisions. This affects hundreds of citizens who have made arrangements to testify at the public hearing
and will be extremely burdensome and seemingly prejudice if additional continuances are allowed.
I appreciate the government’s process and ask that the citizens are given fair opportunity to voice our
opinions.
Respectfully,
Lori Badigian
