Subject: Proposed Linder Village
Dear Ms. Allen:
This e-mail is to express my opposition to the plans submitted for the property located at the
southeast corner of Linder and Chinden.
I implore the City of Meridian , ITD, and ACHD to do your duty to the community and to be responsible
in keeping to its members. It is your responsibility to serve the community and, as a member of this
community, I will say that this plan does not benefit us for the following reasons:
-The proposed plans are a significant departure from the city's comprehensive plan. This plan was
created over time, using expertise, and at a significant cost. Those of us who chose to become a part
of the community came to the are after consulting the plan. We believed that our community leaders
would hold this plan as an important guide on how our community should develop. The proposed
plans seek to significantly alter the comprehensive plan with a significant benefit to the California LLC
which owns the land but with little to no benefit to the community. We have two large grocery stores
within 2 miles of this location. The fact that another one is proposed offers little benefit in exchange
for the noise and traffic (addressed below).
-The plan is incomplete in its detail of the future development of the entire plot. As of now, the
developer only intends to develop enough land to accommodate a WinCo foods location. The rest of
the plot is reserved for future development. If the developer's plans are accepted, their current
proposal would allow them to neglect the rest of the property. As it is now, the south side of the
property has weeds growing as high as the neighboring fences. My concern is that this pattern will be
extended to the rest of the undeveloped portion of the plot.

-In allowing the proposed plan, traffic patterns would be significantly altered. Even if widened,
Chinden would suffer from another access point (especially one with a signal less than 1/4 mile from
the Linder intersection). Linder, with its existing congestion from schools, housing developments,
existing retail locations, restaurants, etc. would cannot support the proposed development.
-The developer is proposing a 24-hour business with it's loading dock facing a residential
development. It is obvious that noise will be a significant problem with such an arrangement.
I urge you to not let Meridian become a victim of its own success. We are a wonderful community and
good people are moving to the city. If you are overzealous to install developments such as the one
proposed, you will ruin a good community.
Thank you,
David Eastman
