My wife and I purchased a home in Paramount approximately 2 years after carefully reviewing school zones and the Meridian comprehensive zoning plan. When purchasing there was little development at the corner of Linder and Chinden except for Fred Meyer. We knew that something would be developed according to the future land use zoning regulations. We were encouraged that the land at the southeast corner of Linder and Chinden would not allow for Mega stores and would keep the kind of local community feel that most people welcome to the neighborhood. My points of contention with approving the re-zone request are as follows: • Traffic at Linder and Chinden. Traffic when school is in session is already a problem. Rocky Mountain students have resorted to parking in neighborhoods because they cannot get in and out of the school quick enough. ITD stated that Chinden was to be an "expressway". The developer plan puts a stop light 400 meters from an already existing stoplight. • 4 access points thru the Paramount neighborhood. With increased traffic congestion come shortcuts. The shortcuts will be cutting thru residential streets that contain kids, pedestrians and schools. 2 • Noise from 24 operations such as Winco and Costco • Dangerous traffic patterns. Drivers coming out of Fred Meyer to Chinden going East is already dangerous as well as adding two more access points to Linder is only going to make matters worse. • Integrity of the Meridian Comprehensive Plan. If the plan is changed now, what is next? We need to keep developers accountable and not roll over for everything they ask for. I respectfully implore that you reject the developer's application in favor of the Meridian Comprehensive plan and the quality of life that we envision.
