My family purchased our first home in the Paramount Subdivision in 2005. So many things about Paramount excited us. The fact that it was advertised as a strong family community was one of the major reasons we purchased our home. Never did we think, based on the city zoning, we could end up with a huge area in our subdivision being zoned commercial. This is just wrong and goes against everything that the City of Meridian has planned for its future growth. Not to mention those of us who made major financial investments based on those plans. Granting this change in zoning would allow for so many potential threats to our community. Traffic would be one of the major concerns. We have walkers to our elementary and middle schools. Combine that with the high school drivers who would have additional access points racing through the neighborhood and you truly have a potential disaster on your hands. Not only that, but you would have people that do not want to wait at the lights or in traffic on Chinden or Linder and will race through our neighborhood even more than they do now. To me, that is a very scary thought. 2 If a commercial zoning is approved, we would have no control over the character of the people flowing through our neighborhood. Did I mention that we have some of the largest schools in the state and we need to protect our children? This potentially invite s predators or other types of offenders right into our neighborhood. Changing the zoning would be a detriment to our ability to protect our children. The quality of life that we hold so dear in our neighborhood could be adversely affected as well. Not only could we have around the clock deliveries, we could potentially have a 24 hr store. That means traffic in and out of the development and our neighborhood at all hours as well as delivery trucks and parking lot lights shining through our windows. Most of us understand that this area is going to be developed and are in support of a mixed-use community plan. We are happy to see professional buildings, restaurants and a variety of shops, but certainly not the size and character that a commercial zoning would allow. I urge you to not allow this zoning change in our neighborhood. I appreciate your time and consideration in reading this. Sincerely, Jenniffer Card N Booth Ave Paramount -- Jenn Card
