Subject: Linder Village Development
Good Morning,
I am writing with concerns regarding the proposed Linder Village Development. As a resident of Meridian for
the past 20 years, I can say how exciting it would be to have a Costco and or another Winco store in
Meridian. However , as a resident of Paramount for the past two years, I can say that many homeowners
purchased their home based on the current land designation of Mixed Use Community. No one objected to that
or we wouldn’t have purchased our homes in this location. With the developer requesting a a change to the
zoning, from what I understand, could have detrimental impact to the area of Meridian that we hold so
dear. Why not consider building in a location that is already zoned for those types of business? If we are so
willing to change zoning, then why have zoning in the first place? We must have standards to maintain this
amazing community that we live in. Below are some points to my objection.
1. Increased traffic and congestion on Linder (a residential road) and Chinden which was intended to be an
expressway. I am also thinking of the safety concerns with it’s proximity to Rocky Mountain High
School. With Rocky Mountain literally steps away, adding those student drivers to the congestion and mix,
could be deadly.
2. There is a known route from Chinden through Paramount to Linder. The traffic “by pass” will add heavy
traffic to our quiet, safe community. No longer will it be quiet and safe to take our children or grand children
for bike rides and walks.
3. I will say that I live on the opposite side of the subdivision, so noise won’t have an impact for me, but
rezoning to accommodate large box stores, will definitely cause noise problems for those bordering
neighbors. We considered buying a home in Foxtail before purchasing in Paramount. I chose Paramount
because we didn’t want the 24 hour possible noise from Fred Meyer. I chose that. But by rezoning that
property, those homeowners are not able to choose. They are being forced to deal with it.
These are obviously only a few of my concerns. Like I said, I would love to see these business grow and thrive
in Meridian, however, let’s approve them for property already zoned for that type of business. I am requesting
that you deny the developers application and maintain the integrity of our community.
Thank you for your time,
2
