Subject: Linder Village Proposal
Dear Elected Officials,
We have lived in the Paramount subdivision for less than a year, and when we made the decision to find our forever
home, we made it with the upmost thought and research. We currently live on one of the streets that is being proposed
to open up to the new Linder Village development. When we purchased the home, we were told that the road would be
opened up eventually, but that the proposed development would not make it accessible to vehicles, and only bikes and
walking. We have been made aware that those proposed plans have been changed to include a stoplight with direct
access past our house. We do not understand how this makes any sense to have a detour from a busy commercial
development through a residential neighborhood. We have several concerns with this that we have listed below.
• Safety is our number one concern. Part of our appeal to this neighborhood was the amount of active children
that our two kids could grow up with. The sidewalks are constantly filled with kids walking, biking, riding on
scooters, etc, and the amount of increased traffic is extremely concerning to us. Unfortunately it does not
appear as if this is any concern of the developers, and it speaks to the questionable ethical behavior of the
people making these decisions. So my question is this: When did turning a larger profit outweigh the safety of
the members of this community?
• Our quality of life will be dramatically changed. Because of the vicinity to the traffic flow, we would have to deal
with cars driving by our house at all hours of the day. This includes people who are not members of this
community using our road as a short cut to their own neighborhoods. Our street is not built to accommodate
the amount of traffic that will increase due to this. The lights and noise coming from a store open 24 hours will
also severely decrease our quality of life, and the reasons why we chose this neighborhood to begin with.
• The fact that big stores with more money than the residents of Paramount are the driving force for the decision
making has caused us to question the integrity of the City of Meridian. City council, and the elected officials of
the community are the voice of these residents, and the only voice we have. I challenge you to spend some time
in our community, on our streets, and use good judgment and common sense about this proposal. Opening this
neighborhood to direct traffic flow from Chinden makes no sense, and will only cause more harm than good.

We are not against the growth and development of the Chinden and Linder area. We are against the access points that
will direct traffic through a residential neighborhood from an already massively busy road. We fear people will not use
these as intended, but merely as a shortcut to save 5 minutes of their time. We are not trying to have the entire
proposal denied, but merely want to offer alternative suggestions to this.
• On the map, there are already 4 access points, not including the residential streets. The Costco in Boise and
Nampa have the same or less, and are constantly busy. The businesses are not going to suffer if the Paramount
residents do not have access through the neighborhood.
• If the residential access points have to be part of the plan, would the developers consider making them only
accessible to foot and bike traffic. There is a large amount of Paramount residents who already currently
commute to the surrounding business parks this way.
Thank you for taking our thoughts and concerns into consideration.
Sincerely,
Broc and Jina Whipple
