My wife and I have wanted to move from Boise to Meridian for several years and finally, in May, our dream came true. We had worked and saved and waited for the right time and we finally got our dream home in the Paramount subdivision here in Meridian. We have been loving it here from the very first day. Now, you can imagine our surprise when only a month after moving here we learned that development plans were in the works to change the zoning so that one or more large commercial properties could be put into the lot on the corner of Linder and Chinden. We had looked at the zoning before moving and were exciting about the current zoning and city plan to include several small businesses and market places. It was the community feel we were desiring, but was now suddenly being threatened. Our home would be one of several that would be dramatically impacted by a change in zoning as we live on Arliss and would be directly behind this development. Our home and family would go from beautifully managed and community centric small businesses and shops to large retail with traffic now running straight down our street, Arliss. Cars would invariable cut through our subdivision, using Arliss, to avoid the main traffic on Linder and Chinden. This dramatic increase in traffic has great implications on our family's safety foremost, but also our property value and personal love of this community. Placing a large retail zone here would require adding a light on Chinden at the 1/4 mile as well, between two other lights. This kind of addition would slow traffic in a highly valued commuting road similar to that of Eagle Rd. It would negatively impact thousands of drivers each day. I admonish you to please keep the zoning as it currently stands. Leave the community the way it was intended and the way those who moved to this area expected it to be. Keep our families and communities safe and happy. Abide by the zoning and city plan that has been laid out for years now, a promise to this and the surrounding communities that brought so many of us here to work, live, and raise our families. Please, stand with the families that chose Meridian as their home by upholding the plan we want to be a part of. Again, thank you for your service and making Meridian a wonderful place to live. Sincerely, 2 Tyler Wilson 208-991-4661 5809 N. Arliss Ave Meridian, ID 83646
