There was a building boom of sorts back then. Prices were cheaper, values strong, people friendly. What’s not to like? Today, we find ourselves so much further down the road. There have been so many articles written about the best places to live in the United State, and the Boise Valley is often at the top of those lists. Everyone seems to have the same dream, “let me in, let me take in the riches of the Treasure Valley,” but, close the door behind me. My wife and I were stopped on the street a long time ago by one of the local television stations asking us what we thought was bringing so many to the Boise area. The answers were many, however, that interview took place in the early 1970’s. When the Mrs. and I moved here the first time there was a sign and the end of Fairview around Cherry Lane which said something like “Welcome to Meridian, the economic hub of the community, population 2,700 as best we recall. Today, the last population number I heard is approximately 94,000. 2 You, and all the planners and officials of Meridian City Government are the bastions of common sense and decision making to protect the populace. We humbly ask you do so. Ultimately all will not be happy with the final decision, we ask that you make the best decision.., as if your home were in the area. Thank you for your consideration.
